I wrote a book

I wrote a book.  It is in the editing process now.  The cover is finished.  And the miracle is I only started actually writing it last week.  God is pretty amazing.

It is roughly 64 pages. Will be available as e-book- both mobi and epub, plus pdf, and also print. Will have it for sale here on my site (and on my art site and likely Etsy) as well as via Amazon (later–will start with my site). At this point I am thinking it will be $5 for e-book. Should be available within a week or two give or take (waiting on edits now but formatting is mostly finished.)

It is a decluttering book written from a Christian perspective because I can’t seem to do anything else.  It is in 3 parts: Preparing your heart, practical advice, and then a bit on maintenance. So there it is.  This should be interesting.

Book

As soon as I say I am intending to post more often things get super busy here and I can’t.  Shamus’ book, The Witch Watch, is almost finished and ready for print editions to be available.  Since I am doing all the formatting/final proofing plus much of the marketing and web related stuff (aside from him posting about it and that sort of thing) I am super busy preparing it for print.  We have the proofs here and I am going over them one more time, adding any edits to the various formats, and getting the author site and his profiles on the various distribution channels all on the same page.  You can read Shamus’ take on it all on his site (in case you missed it).  Also here is the author page we have set up where links to the books already for sale plus information on the various versions and whatnot is available.

This morning Shamus and I went out for coffee in order to get away from computers and get on the same page regarding the business side of all this.  As we talked we realized how much the Lord had been preparing me for this aspect of the job, from working on author websites (I have dealt with authors more than any other webdesign client) to working on illustrations and proofreading for Splashdown books and just having a wide range of experience with various writers and books.  This just served as another reminder that we are going the right direction with all of this, despite the financial set backs.

Poor Sad Bunny gets a Story

I had originally planned to sell the painting of this little guy. When he first showed up that was all I could think to do with him.  I usually don’t paint stuffed animals.  Then I noticed that he kept popping into paintings and doodles–the little guy is everywhere and SO determined to be involved in everything I do.  Then hubby fell in love with him and requested that I NOT put him up for sale.

Not only did he not want me to sell the painting but he started writing him a story.  A sort of Milne-y/Dr. Seuss-y kind of story.  Have I ever mentioned that his father was a real, honest-to-goodness, published poet?  No?  Well he was and hubby has a huge portion of that same spirit plus being incredibly FUNNY. Oh my goodness, so very, very funny.

So, our little bunny is getting a great little story to go with him.  And each painting is leading to another stanza of the poem and another painting, and it cracks me up.  We are having such fun with this little guy.

We don’t know what will happen when we finish–Shamus would like to try to get it published but we shall see.  (Which is why I am not sharing the actual words he has written.)  In the meantime we are taking it one painting at a time and the story is still growing.

Have I mentioned that prints and cards are now available of this little guy? Yup, you can get him here:

Mail time

Today I reluctantly went to the mail box. We had spent several hours at the pond yesterday walking around and I was taking it easy today. I didn’t really want to stop reading my book and go check the mail. Yes, my life is so very hard. 🙂

In my mailbox was some random junk and a package. Now normally packages aren’t a big deal–U do Swapadvd and Paperbackswap so they are pretty regular. However this package was not from either of those–it was from a bloggy friend with whom I occasionally share snail mail and projects. This time it wasn’t a cool craft it was a book. A gift for Rachel. The perfect gift.

To start Rachel looked the book over–“Mom, this book is really well made. The paper is really good quality and it has a beautiful cover. ”

She opened it up and ooed and awed as she browsed the pages. She then settled back in her chair and began to read, every once in a while exclaiming over another thing that it explains that she wanted to be able to do.

As most of you know Rachel has a crafty/project streak. She loves making and building things (she has a go cart in the works from The Dangerous Book for Boys) as well as cooking and baking. What you may not know is that she is an outdoors-woman at heart. She longs for me to let her camp out for a week in a tent all buy herself. She wants to build a shelter, live in it, make her own fire, and make her own food. A long time ago she told me she felt called to be an old fashioned missionary–the type that not only goes out and witnesses but also has to make her way in the wilderness. She also wants to fly.
