Boys.
Our society has a way of ruining them.
Of forcing them into a place where they are not allowed to behave like normal little boys
where they are expected to behave prim and proper like little girls,
without the acceptable outlets boys once had.
What a blessing to be able to give our boy the freedom,
To grow into the man God intends him to be.
Now I’m sure there are children with ADHD etc. where this is not the case, but it’s my opinion that the reason why there are so MANY cases of ADHD (which is more common in BOYS) is due to the fact that it is not normal for children, boys especially, to be cooped up inside at a desk for many hours a day. Who wouldn’t be fidgety?!
In our school division, due to the age cut-off my dd would not have started kindergarten until she was 6. She pretty much taught herself to read at aged 3. She has always been “active” shall we say. So tell me, what would an active 6 yr old starting kindergarten do when she is bored out of her mind?! Fidget, talk, bother other children, be unable to sit still and be quiet etc. Hmmmm maybe she would need a little medication to settle her down a bit so she’s not such a distraction.
This is sich a beautiful post. I have only daughters but I can see the effects of society on my husband and his brothers. I also am so glad that my youngest daughter will be home schooled and not be forced into standards that were not intended for girls, or any kids for that matter. I am really enjoying your blog!
These pictures are so refreshing Heather. They remind me of my own childhood – all those many, many years ago. It goes so quickly and there is so much time to be a “grownup”. How wonderful that your children are free to just be kids.
Amen! I’ve got 2 boys myself, and 2 girls… and I love that we have open space for them to run and play and just be.
Right on!
What a wonderful post!! It is so sad that there are so many boys who are looked at as “problem children” when all they are doing is acting like normal little boys. Maybe if more parents were able and/or willing to do something for their sons’ benefits the world would be a better place.
