What I Have Learned about God from Unschooling
God is everywhere working all around us, just as learning is everywhere, and with both all we have to do is open our eyes to see so we can join in.

Photo: Rachel also sits in the shade and draws. In fact, those times when we are learning outside of traditional settings tend to be those where we learn and grow the most.
Photo: Daffodils found deep in the woods where we walked.Expect the unexpected and don’t be surprised when God shows up.
Photo: Issac sits watching the fire burn the sticks he had gathered. It is amazing the learning and growing that God has provided through living life to the fullest, finding joy in His creation, and reading about Him from His Word. I am so thankful for the numerous opportunities He provides us to learn and grow in wisdom and understanding and in getting to know Him better. God is GOOD!
Amen! It’s too bad you don’t live down the street. I just know we’d have a wonderful time together, living and learning, loving God and loving our families.
Blessings to you on this beautiful Sabbath.

And I say Amen! and thank you for that much needed encouraging post! This week has been a ‘big zero’ on ‘traditional’ learning….but off the scales on learning about values/priorities/good decision making…etc. You are the best! and thanks for all your helpful hints…I so wish you lived next door 😉
P.S. Okay…your sidebar caught my attention with Blognetnews/homeschool 😉 I’m off to explore!
Can’t believe it’s too hot there!! Wonderful thoughts here on learning, loving, God, creation. I’m learning that Big School and Big Church are not that different.
You know when I began homeschooling I never thought I’d have unschooling tendencies. I had read a lot about it and pushed it aside as “not for us”.
Unschooling alone is still not for us – but it is part of the schooling that we do. There are times when I don’t follow the manual, don’t do all the quizzes and tests just b/c the book says to do them. Vacations, walks in the woods, educational videos or books that the kids or I choose…helping in the kitchen…helping outside – it’s going to give the children a better grasp of what real life is all about.
Less than an hour before I was to go out of town for the weekend, my dd “surprised” me with the fact that she had dough rising for bagels. It looked too sticky, too messy and I figured it was not going to work. One part of me wanted to make her throw it all in the trash right then – but the wiser part of me intervened…told her to add some flour, gave instructions to my dh on his supervisory role to complete the job while I was gone – and I left. According to my dd they turned out fine. It’s hard sometimes to just be “hands off” with the kids – but I know they need that in order to learn and grow.
